The Nerd in an App ("Nerd," "we," "us") is a pricing, quoting, invoicing, and job-management tool for service businesses (pressure washing, catering, lawn care, general labor, security, and mechanic work). This policy describes what information we collect and how we use it.
The Nerd in an App™ is presently operated by its owner as a separate business venture, and is not currently organized as an LLC, corporation, or subsidiary.
Information We Collect
- Account information — your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Business profile information — labor rates, overhead, target margin, and similar settings you enter to price your own jobs.
- Your customers' information — names, phone numbers, emails, and addresses you enter for the people and businesses you serve, so you can quote and invoice them.
- Job, quote, invoice, and payment records you create while using Nerd.
- Support communications — messages you send us through the in-app support feature.
How We Use Information
We use this information to operate the service: calculating prices, generating quotes and invoices, tracking payments, authenticating your account, and responding to support requests. We do not sell your information.
AI-Assisted Features
Some Nerd features use a third-party AI service for specific, limited purposes:
- Recovery Hunter (Nerd Plus): may generate written commentary on a detected recovery opportunity (an overdue invoice or stalled quote).
- Support: if your support message doesn't match a known pattern, an AI service may help read and summarize it — most support questions are answered from your real account data without any AI involved.
These features process only the specific data needed to perform that task.
Third-Party Services
We rely on third-party infrastructure to operate Nerd, including cloud hosting and database services, a transactional email provider (for password resets and support-related emails, sent from support@thenerdinanapp.com), an AI service provider (see above), and — once subscription billing is active — a payment processor to handle subscription payments. Nerd does not receive or store your full card number; that is handled directly by the payment processor.
Cookies
Nerd uses a single, strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Data Retention & Account Closure
If you close your account, your data is retained for 60 days (in case you change your mind and wish to restore it), after which it is permanently deleted from active systems.
Your Requests
You can request access to or deletion of your data by contacting support@thenerdinanapp.com.
Children
Nerd is a business tool intended for adults operating a service business and is not directed to children.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the effective date above.
